Tips for Dealing with Aggressive Drivers in L.A. Traffic

    Last updated 1 year ago

L.A. has a reputation for heavy traffic that most would agree is well-earned. But while traffic itself can be nerve-wracking, what’s worse is encountering dangerous, aggressive drivers on the road. Aggressive driving is a leading cause of the type of accidents that require collision repair and extended insurance squabbles.

    • Allow Plenty of Time and Give Plenty of Space

Aggressive drivers may not appear aggressive at the outset, but following someone too closely or otherwise crowding someone who is already pushy or on-edge can make for a tense situation, and may lead to an accident. Aggressive drivers also tend to slow down and accelerate faster than more relaxed drivers, which increases the risk of a fender-bender and the need for auto body repair if you are following too closely. Give yourself enough time that you can get to your destination without trying to rush.

    • Don’t Take Aggression Personally

If another driver cuts you off, tailgates behind you, or does something else that irritates you, don’t let it get to you personally. Doing so will only heighten your own feelings of aggression, and can increase the likelihood of an accident. Take a deep breath, give the driver some extra space, and let it pass.

    • Report Dangerous Driving

If you see a driver that is driving recklessly or aggressively to the point that it is clearly dangerous, then a call to law enforcement is a good course of action. It’s estimated that at least 1,500 men, women, and children are injured or killed each year due to aggressive driving. Your call could save lives, as well as the costs of collision repair and damage to the vehicles involved.

If you’re involved in an accident, no matter what the cause, get in touch with Schiro's Collision Repairs today. Do You Use the Correct Driving Position? Watch to Find Out!

    Last updated 1 year ago

Proper driving is the key to safe driving. If you’re not seated correctly in the driver’s seat of your car, and if you’re not holding the steering wheel the right way, then you may be putting yourself at greater risk of becoming involved in a car accident.

When seated in your vehicle, make sure that you can brake effectively without having to extend your leg straight out. As far as hand placement on the steering wheel, 9 and 3 (midway down either side of the wheel) are considered the best positions for optimal control.

By handling your car properly, you can reduce the likelihood of an accident. If you do happen to have an accident, no matter how minor, have Schiro's Collision Repairs take a look at the damage. To find out more about our auto body repair services, give us a call at (818) 765-8172.

How Insurance Adjusters Evaluate Car Damages Following an Auto Accident Claim

    Last updated 1 year ago

Being involved in a car accident is a stressful situation, particularly in cases of vehicle damage or personal injury. This is due to the nature of car insurance companies and the insurance adjustors who decide how the case will be handled, and how comprehensive the compensation for auto body repair will be.

The process of damage settlement usually goes something like this:

    • The Claim is Filed

After you’re involved in a car accident, it’s important to contact your insurance company and file your claim immediately. A claims adjuster cannot begin to determine your compensation for auto body repair until the completed claim is filed.

    • Investigation of the Claim

The extent of the investigation depends on the particulars of the accident. Insurance adjusters look at police information, may contact witnesses, find information on your medical expenses, and comb through as much data as they can gain access to.

    • Settlement

If no one was at fault in the accident, settlement may be as straightforward as an estimate of repair costs. Sometimes, however, the process can be a little more complicated. One way to make the process run more smoothly is to find a repair shop that is willing to communicate directly with your insurance carrier.  A repair shop can give a direct estimate of the cost of repairs and a detailed description of the collision damage.

For example, Schiro’s Collision Repairs can act as mediator between you and your insurance company to help you work your way through the collision repairs process. We have great experience and expertise in communicating with insurance adjustors to determine fair benefits and compensation. Our auto body repair covers cars, as well as truck body repair, and RV body repair.
